Introducing Caringbah South Family Chiropractor Sascha Samerski

Family Chiropractor Sascha Samerski

“I admit, I was a sceptic & very uncertain,” remembers Sascha Samerski. “But my father insisted that I try chiropractic since I was experiencing months of debilitating Low Back Pain........ & I was only aged 19! I was reluctant, but I made an appointment to see the local chiropractor.”

“It was incredible,” continues Sascha. “I’ll never forget that first adjustment. It was as if I could stand tall & straight again. After several more visits most of my pain was gone & I was no longer apprehensive to bend or move quickly. The months of missing out on my favorite activities & shuffling around like a 90 year old man were gone! That’s when I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor.”

Sascha Samerski at this time was already a student at the School of Medicine, University of N.S.W where he studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses. He immediately switched degree programmes & completed a 3 year bachelor of science majoring in anatomy in 1988, the pre-requisite to attaining a post-graduate Masters of Chiropractic degree. He was then accepted into Macquarie University, Sydney where, during his two year post graduate Masters degree, subjects included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, orthopaedics, biomechanics, pathology, a scientific research project, nutrition, X-ray taking, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care as an intern at the University Public Clinic. Graduating in 1990 after completing 5 years of full time study & 2 degrees which included a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Chiropractic, Sascha gained professional registration and established a practice in Maroubra Junction & shortly afterwards commenced practicing in the Sutherland Shire as well.

“We love sceptics,” smiles Sascha. “I still remember the concerns and apprehension I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate. Patients appreciate that.” They also appreciate us identifying the "cause" of their complaint & not simply attempting to "mask" their symptoms.

Sascha is married to Colette and they have two children, Matthew and Nathan. Both children were checked & adjusted by me immediately after birth & have never been vaccinated or received an antibiotic. (If that sounds interesting, be sure to ask Sascha to explain!) Sascha has a passion for teaching & has taught at various colleges in the field of Anatomy & Physiology for many years. He is also an academic at the School of Medicine, UNSW, training medical students in the human cadaver dissecting laboratories.

Sascha has a strong work ethic grounded from his service in the Commando Green Berets where he was awarded the Australian Defence Medal. He "owner built" his family home & clinic in Caringbah & outside of private practice & teaching he enjoys fishing and bike riding with his children, scuba diving, yoga and weight training as well as continually learning & developing personally and professionally. He regularly exceeds the required CPD "Continuing Professional Development" hours required by his professional body by up to 4-5 times annually. He is a member of the peak chiropractic body, the Chiropractors Association of Australia, an Associate Member of the Australasia College of Chiropractors, member of the Australian Spinal Research Foundation, and member of Sports Chiropractic Australia as well as a "Justice of the Peace." He was Tony Robbins’ personal chiropractor for many years as well as taking care of several motor racing celebrities.

My biggest regret...? I just wish I had known then what I know now! I wish I'd had the opportunity to receive chiropractic care from an earlier age like my children did & the numerous children & families we care for in our clinic. "As the twig is bent.... so grows the tree". I have now been receiving regular chiropractic “wellness” care since the age of 19 & can attest that not only my health has flourished but also my life experience has been overwhelmingly enriched as a result of a “clear” neurological connection. My hope is that more Australians discover that there’s more to chiropractic than the relief of headaches and back pain! I believe the human body is designed for perfection. It should give its owner a century of trouble-free performance if looked after. Our primary focus is the integrity of your nervous system, which controls and regulates every cell, tissue and organ of your body. We help improve the function and structure of your spine, reducing nervous system compromise so that the power that made the body can heal the body! The result? Even non-spinal related health problems can show improvement. Without drugs or surgery. Regardless of age.

“Thank you for visiting Caringbah Spinal Care in Caringbah South. I hope it can be a source of hope and healing. If you have any questions, please call me so we can help you take your first step towards better health or click on the Email the Doctor button at the bottom of every page.”

Introducing Family Chiropractor Mark Taylor

Measuring in at 6’8” I am a keen athlete and in my younger days had a major focus on playing basketball from the age of 6. By the age of 16 I was told my knees were “shot” and that if I kept the game up, by age 30 I would suffer severe arthritis. I reluctantly stop playing……… but more about that later!

Family Chiropractor Mark TaylorThroughout school I developed a fascination with all things mechanical. This led me to attaining an apprenticeship and my dream job in the automotive industry building competition rally cars as well as conducting high performance modifications. I loved it; I got to use my mechanical know how and problem solving skills whilst developing my knowledge on the ever progressing elaborate computer systems on modern day cars.

After completing my trade and spending a few years in the industry I felt my learning curve was starting to plateau, the interest was still there, however, I couldn’t see myself getting excited about my career choice looking 10-20 years into the future. I decided to make a change, before it was too late. I took a gamble and decided to enroll in a course for a massage therapy diploma and quickly realized that I was somewhat a natural at this stuff. The anatomy and physiology fascinated me and I was instantly passionate about the subject. In the meantime I was still in the automotive industry and copping serious flack from my workmates about being a “masseur”, but I had a big enough “sniff” of the healthcare industry to know that I wanted to head in that direction.

Despite finishing at the top of my class in massage therapy I still wanted to develop to a higher level and pursue a greater challenge so I decided to stop off at a local university open day to see what my options were, and was naturally drawn to the chiropractic studies display. I was advised that the chances of me being granted acceptance into the double degree program would be quite slim……. 2 months later and I was accepted!

I had become a full time student, this was very different to the mechanical trade, but the change was what I needed, most of all, it was the challenge that inspired me. After a total of 6 years of full time study which included a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and a Master of Chiropractic my goal was achieved. For the second time in my life I loved what I was doing. An abundance of knowledge at my fingertips, and it was all relevant to helping people attain their optimum health, I never looked back.

Whilst at university I began receiving chiropractic adjustments, being 6’8” (203cm) tall and slumped over car engine bays all day it was no surprise that I had back troubles. With regular chiropractic adjustments my aches and pains were all but gone, with a nice side effect; my knees that had troubled me for over 15 years were now becoming stronger and more stable. The importance of having a healthier nervous system through chiropractic care was becoming apparent!

I am excited to be part of the wellness team at Caringbah Spinal Care and have come to realize that there are numerous people in our community who are not sure if they should seek help from a chiropractor, or if indeed chiropractic care is the right choice for them. It is important that people realise that chiropractors are highly educated and trained primary contact practitioners and a referral is not necessary for an appointment. When a new patient visits our office our utmost priority is to immediately determine whether or not you are in the right place for your individual health concern so that your valuable time or money is not wasted. That means that our priority is to always get to the root cause of your health complaint and not merely offer band aid or “aspirin” solutions. An appropriate referral is always made for those we identify are not likely candidates for our care.

There’s more to chiropractic than the relief of headaches and back pain! Our primary focus is the integrity of your nervous system, which controls and regulates every cell and tissue of your body. The moving bones of the spinal column can impair this vital communication link between your brain and your body. We help improve the function and structure of your spine, reducing nervous system compromise. The result? Even non-spinal related health problems such as fatigue, poor digestion and concentration can show improvement. Without drugs or surgery. Regardless of age.

We look forward to serving you and you family in our office in the very near future and I am certain that you’ll be delighted with our unique approach to your greatest asset……… your health!

Introducing Caringbah South Family Chiropractor Carl Kosta

Being a chiropractor has enabled me to peruse my overwhelming passion for health and healing and how it relates to the human body……. particularly the supremacy of the nervous system! Initially what drew me to chiropractic was my deteriorating health & an appreciation for the art that a highly skilled & trained chiropractor must develop to perform a specific spinal correction.

Family Chiropractor Carl KostaMy first experience with chiropractic was actually as a patient at the age of 17. “I will never forget what was to be my last game of high school football. I heard a sudden loud crack in my neck, which echoed in my ears! My head had crashed into another player’s knee. I hit the ground fearing the worst…’

I suffered a severe neck injury from this high school football game……… from then on that injury caused my health & my life to rapidly deteriorate. The constant neck pain and migraines had made studying near impossible & being in my final year of high school my parents became extremely concerned. They helped me the best they knew how; they gave me pain killers to relieve the debilitating pain. I had soon developed a dependence on painkillers, carrying them with me everyday to school; I knew just how intense the migraines could become!

This was the start of an incredible discovery & journey for me; a concerned friend knowing my plight introduced me to chiropractic. That first adjustment achieved significant relief and over time & a course of safe & gentle chiropractic adjustments my headaches progressively disappeared & my health returned…… even the colds & flu’s I’d suffered regularly became a thing of the past! It was as if my body had been lifted to a higher capacity by turning on a switch! The results were simply that amazing & inspiring that I immediately set my sights to becoming a chiropractor.

As they say…… “The rest is history!” I completed two degrees over five years at Macquarie University, Sydney consisting of a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and a Masters of Chiropractic. I graduated as a chiropractor in 2003 after completing my registration board exams.

Today, I am thrilled to be part of a highly skilled, professional team at Caringbah Spinal Care, which prides itself on providing state of the art quality service to all our patients. I also have an established family practice at Thirroul on the south coast of Sydney.

I enjoy living in the Sutherland Shire with my wife Tina & feel blessed for the opportunity every day to be helping this great community of people reach their optimal health through chiropractic care. To experience life to the fullest we all need to prioritise our #1 asset……. Our health! I believe that achieving optimal health is a process that we all must work on daily including educating yourself to help make the right decisions for you and your family. Since we respond & adapt to our environment through our nervous system maintaining a healthy spine and nervous system is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. At Caringbah Spinal Care we specialise in detecting and correcting specific spinal problems that often have far reaching connections to other health issues thus allowing your body to function again at its full potential. We look forward to serving you and you family in our office in the very near future and remember to check out our unbeatable “New Patient Offer” and guarantee. Dr. Sascha Asks some important questions of interest to Caringbah South residents - Chiropractor Caringbah South Dr. Sascha Asks...

Could a chiropractor put an end to bedwetting?
If bladder control seems elusive, consider chiropractic. If spinal bones are interfering with nerves that control your child's bladder, plastic sheets, alarms and other methods simply add to the embarrassment. Caringbah South parents are often amazed (and relieved) that chiropractic can be so helpful. Learn more.
What's a side effect?
It may sound like a bonus; something extra, but chiropractors know it should more accurately called an "unintended effect," and "unwanted effect" or in some cases an "adverse effect." A pill can't come close to matching your body's ability to create and deliver the essential compounds it needs. That's when it's important to make sure your nervous system is working correctly—the purpose of chiropractic care!
