Meet Dr Sascha Samerski (Chiropractor)

Why Chiropractic?

“I admit, I was sceptical about chiropractic and very uncertain,” remembers Sascha Samerski. “But my father insisted that I try chiropractic. Since going to the local chiropractor with back pain at the age of 19, I have had a keen interest in chiropractic services.”

From that experience Sascha decided he wanted to be a chiropractor.

A Chiropractic Education

When he had this experience, Sascha was already enrolled at the School of Medicine at the University of N.S.W. He was studying the basic sciences (i.e., inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics and biology), along with basic physiology and anatomy courses.

Sascha immediately switched degree programmes and completed his 3-year Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Anatomy. Finishing in 1988, this was the prerequisite to attain a post-graduate Master of Chiropractic degree. He was then accepted into Macquarie University in Sydney.

During the two years Masters programme, Sascha studied a variety of subjects with a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, biochemistry, orthopaedics, biomechanics, pathology and more. While an intern at the University Public Clinic, he gained valuable experience in X-ray technique, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care.

In 1990, he graduated with his Master of Chiropractic. Sascha soon gained his professional registration and established a practice in Maroubra Junction. Shortly afterwards, he also commenced practicing in the Sutherland Shire as well.

The Practice Today

“We love sceptics,” says Sascha. “I still remember the concerns and apprehension I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So, we make it a point to explain everything in advance and answer any questions you have. Patients appreciate that.” They also appreciate us identifying the “cause” of their complaint and not simply attempting to “mask” their symptoms.

Sascha wishes he had been given the opportunity to receive chiropractic care at an earlier age. He is grateful his children and numerous other children and families have been treated in our clinic.

As the twig is bent…. so grows the tree.”

Sascha is hopeful that more of the community will discover that there’s more to chiropractic than the relief of headaches and back pain. He believes the human body is designed for adaptation. It should give its owner a century of trouble-free performance, if properly looked after.
